John Rubino is a former Wall Street financial analyst and author or co-author of five books, including The Money Bubble: What to Do Before It Pops and Clean Money: Picking Winners in the Green-Tech Boom. He founded the popular financial website DollarCollapse.com in 2004, sold it in 2022, and now publishes John Rubino’s Substack newsletter.

Societies under stress become erratic and often violent. But sometimes they also become more creative. Think back to the Vietnam War/civil rights era of the 1960s (for younger readers, those were scary, chaotic times) and consider the music that was created in response.

Today’s world is, by many measures, a lot more ominous and stressful than the 1960s, but no one is writing protest songs as consequential as those of the Beatles or Bob Dylan. This might be because so much of our angsty creativity is being channeled into online memes and videos. Some examples:

The World Economic Forum (run by Bond villains Klaus Schwab and Bill Gates) is an obvious target for parody. At least I think the next two images are parodies. The way things are going they might be actual WEF proposals. Here’s their future food pyramid:

.. and their vision of how most of us will live after the coming Great Reset. Notice the details:

The guy who would have exposed the aristocracy’s machinations has been imprisoned for a decade. Consider downloading and framing one of these Julian Assange prints, courtesy of the great Caitlin Johnstone:

Have you noticed that most of the past decade’s conspiracy theories have turned out to be true?

And here’s a stunningly realistic photo of the architect of the recent global dictatorship test run:

The next one might take a bit of explaining. The recent near-collapse of US local and regional banks was due to soaring interest rates crushing bank bond portfolios. Suddenly the sleepiest corner of the investment world has become a minefield, possibly as a prelude to the imposition of a central bank digital currency.

Meanwhile, covid (remember that?) has morphed from an extinction-level threat into fodder for SNL parody now that everyone has started ignoring the public health establishment.

Monthly Series?

I’m envisioning this as the first of a series that traces our descent into the financial/political/social abyss. Or, who knows, maybe our U-turn before we reach the cliff. Feel free to send candidates for the next list.
