July 19, 2026 | Bending Civilization Toward Zuckerworld

Pretty creepy, huh? Zuckerberg is so certain Ray-Ban spyglasses are the future that he has hired billionaire influencer Kylie Jenner to endorse them. Do we really crave having a world of information literally in our faces? We’re about to find out. A factory in Italy has been churning out Meta glasses by the millions, and it is presumably only a matter of time before one can buy them at Home Depot, McDonald’s and the corner bodega. Unlike Apple’s Vision Pro glasses that flopped with consumers a couple of years ago, these have AI smarts that can even remind us of who people are if we bump into them and have forgotten their names. Zuck swears that his shades won’t eternally remember conversations that our friends would rather be forgotten. However, we all know better by now: your supposedly private information is $$$$$ for guys like Zuckerberg. And that means that sooner or later, the glasses will be used mainly to sell us stuff. We will crave Red Bull, Dubai chocolate and even more Taylor Swift without knowing why, and we’ll be able to buy just about anything we see on a shelf or in a showroom with a couple of slow blinks.
