October 22, 2021 | Will Commodity Charge Soon Lose Steam?

Bob Hoye has been in investment business for some 50 years, making him one of the more experienced researchers. His historical work has been thorough providing the first recognition of the fascinating transition from speculation in commodities to speculation in financial assets. It was controversial when Bob observed that “No matter how much the Fed prints, stocks will outperform commodities”. In January 2000, the research team concluded that the Dot-Com Bubble would peak in March 2000. In early 2007, the team outlined that the credit markets would reverse in May-June 2007. They did and the stock market followed. The latest was the call in early October for the Bitcoin Bubble to complete in December. Bob’s essays and speeches on political change and on actual climate change have been widely circulated.

Hi Jim and Bob. It seems like everyone is predicting the big seasonal rally to all time highs into next year. Many analysts say that a 10% rally or more is “in the cards”, or maybe the “fortune teller’s cards”, with the S&P at 5000 by year-end. However, it seems like many markets have double topped with some exhibiting very weak or unconfirmed “breakouts” this week. Bob, are current year-end rally predictions really “in the cards” or will this be more more like the November 2018 surprise sell-off? Do you see a sell-off into December followed the that final spike high in the first quarter 2022? Also, is it a good time to short the very extended oil and gas markets?

Hi Bob and Jim, happy Halloween! Will the ghosts of November 2018 haunt the markets this year? Or do the ghosts of the Black Monday flash crash, on that frightful October 19,1987, revisit us again? Some bears have seen apparitions that last appeared on Black Tuesday, October 24,1929 and others claim to see witches on broomsticks, resembling black swans, circling the markets from above. Bob, can the Fed fight off the hobgoblins, the short sellers and the margin clerks yet again this ghostly season?
