Today, I noticed that this Petro-Canada near our house is now up and running with an EV Fast Charger Station.

According to the Petro Canada website, the company has completed a network of charging stations all across Canada, as shown on the map below.  You can also search by location to find the chargers in each area on their web site, see Introducing Our EV Fast Charge.

Right now, the charging is free.  The units seem to be primarily ‘superchargers’ meaning they can fully recharge a vehicle in 30 minutes or less.

The Tesla charging stations are already built out across North America, but the spread of other charging stations is essential as many EV brands become accessible to the masses.  The Petro-Can roll out is part of the evolution needed.  Ramping up renewable energy production to power the majority of the grid is the next major investment cycle underway.

Canadian Tire has also just announced plans to add 240 new fast chargers and 55 Level 2 chargers at 90 Canadian Tire locations by the end of 2020.
