July 18, 2019 | Regional Canadian, U.S. Policy Leaders Gather to Scope Out Economic Future

Stewart Muir is founder and executive director of the Resource Works Society, a Vancouver-based group open to participation by British Columbians from all walks of life who are concerned about their future economic opportunities. He is an author, journalist and historian with experience on three continents including a financial editor of The Vancouver Sun responsible for mining and markets coverage. Since Resource Works was established in 2014, the group has gained international recognition for its practical approach to the public challenges of responsible natural resource development and use.

Resource Works is among sixty non-governmental organizations attending the Pacific Northwest Economic Region (PNWER) 2019 summit, being held in Saskatoon July 21-25.

PNWER is a statutory public/private non-profit created to enhance the competitiveness of the region – five U.S. states and five Canadian provides and territories – in both domestic and international markets. It also seeks to promote greater regional collaboration, while achieving continued economic growth while maintaining the region’s natural environment.

Speakers and topics this year cover a broad range of policy and industry areas including the U.S.-Canada relationship, building infrastructure for future markets the region needs to serve, and how to capture Asian markets.

Attending the five-day event are provincial/territorial legislators and their federal counterparts, academics, representatives of the private sector, and various government officials.

Resource Works executive director Stewart Muir will represent the Vancouver-based not-for-profit.
