September 22, 2018 | What are the Challenges for B.C.’s Eeconomic Development?

Stewart Muir is founder and executive director of the Resource Works Society, a Vancouver-based group open to participation by British Columbians from all walks of life who are concerned about their future economic opportunities. He is an author, journalist and historian with experience on three continents including a financial editor of The Vancouver Sun responsible for mining and markets coverage. Since Resource Works was established in 2014, the group has gained international recognition for its practical approach to the public challenges of responsible natural resource development and use.

What policies and priorities should guide the British Columbia government in managing the provincial economy? On Sept. 28, our Stewart Muir joins a panel to discuss this topic at the second annual Politics, Policies & Priorities conference.

Muir’s panel will be entitled Challenges for B.C.’s Economic Development and will be moderated by Shachi Kurl, Executive Director of the Angus Reid Institute. Co-panelists David Black and Tom Sigurdson will be on hand for what conference organizers predict will be “an informal, lively conversation.”

Black is a newspaper publisher who has proposed an oil refinery, and Sigurdson heads the British Columbia and Yukon Territory Building and Construction Trades Council. Muir started the non-profit Resource Works Society in 2014 with broad community support and a mandate to conduct research and join the public conversation on responsible natural resource development.

The conference will take place at the Sheraton Guildford in Surrey on Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. Registration and more information are available at this link.
