October 3, 2017 | Las Vegas – was it MIND or BRAIN (as the ’cause’)?

Donald B. Swenson: Born January 24, 1943, Roseau, Minnesota. Graduated H.S. 1961, Moorhead High, Minnesota. Graduated College 1968, Moorhead State University, Minnesota. Designated member of Appraisal Institute (MAI), 1974. Employed with Western Life Insurance Company, 1968 – 71; Iowa Securities Company, 1971 – 73; American Appraisal Company, 1974 – 81. Part-time teacher/valuation consultant/bartender, 1979 – 2008 (taught workshops at Waukesha County Technical Institute, Wi. and Madison Area Technical College, Wi.). Retired 2008 (part time teacher/blogger), AZ. Self educated economist/philosopher/theologian:

Today’s Wall Street Journal, Opinion page, A18, stated that “Some recesses of the individual human brain can harbor impulses that are simply malign and sometimes produce senseless murder”. The opinion was expressed under  the heading ‘An Act of Pure Evil’. Let’s talk about this mindset (held by many scientists, neurologists, theologians, and most educators) which attributes ‘my’ Brain as the cause of ‘my’ evil behavior. I use the word ‘my’ in a ‘uni-plural’ sense for this missive. Uni-plural means it applies to all of us. Is my/your Brain really the cause of evil behavior as we witnessed in Las Vegas on Sunday (some 59 dead and 527 shot/hurt).

My logic says, absolutely NO. My Brain has no ability to create my behavior (solely). My Brain is dependent upon my inner self (consciousness) prior to any behavioral action/activity. In reality, it is my Mind (also called my consciousness/spirit) which creates my behavior. My Brain then responds and does its duty. Thinking precedes action/behavior. Mind (thinking) precedes Brain activity. Mind is spirit/metaphysical and Brain is matter/physical. We need to recognize that I am not my Brain/Body. Neither are YOU! In reality, we are consciousness and our consciousness creates our behavior/action! Wake-up to reality, opinion writers!

My thinking derives from the spiritual realm (as does yours IMO) and this means that we act AFTER we think. Behavior is a form of acting-out what has been thought out prior to acting. I think then act. Thinking derives from my Mind (or consciousness) and then my Brain operates (my neurons and synapses operate as a ‘result’ of prior Mind activity). What does this imply as we analyze the shooting over in Las Vegas, Nevada? It implies that Stephen Paddock’s Mind (thinking) created this shooting event (mass killing of innocent human beings). His thinking (demonic at the source) was responsible for his actions (evil behavior).

Killing of innocents is an obvious ‘evil’ act. The WSJ article calls this behavior correctly as ‘An Act of Pure Evil’. The writer attributes this behavior to the Brain of Stephen Paddock and this is misleading and deceptive journalism IMO. Steve’s Brain did NOT cause this ‘evil’ act. Show me with your logic that ‘my’ behavior results from my Brain neurons/synaptic activity (independent of my inner self/Mind). I think you will fail with your logic and philosophy on this situation. We can not move forward as a society with this type of ‘thinking’. We need to get to the issue of ‘consciousness’ and its reality. I am NOT my Brain/Body! Neither are YOU! I am:

Some images to ponder about:

Stephen Paddock, age 64, lived in Mesquite, Nevada. His MIND (thinking) created this killing event!

Eric Paddock, brother of Stephen, has no idea why Steve did this evil act! Why? We need to analyze Steve’s prior Mindset (not Brainset)!

Site of killing (some 2200 attendee’s at the concert). Shooting was from 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. Stephen shot with multiple automatic guns during this killing event. Was his behavior a Brain event or a Mind event? Do your own thinking! My view is that this was premeditated murder (derived from inner thoughts/ideas)! An inner evil spirit was the core cause, not his neurons or brain synapses (as the WSJ article implied)! We need to get real about what is happening today if progress is to move forward!
