September 22, 2017 | Consciousness Creates ‘Time’, ‘Value’, and ‘Money’!

Retired 2008 (part time teacher/blogger), AZ. Self educated economist/philosopher/theologian:

Consciousness is fundamental to thinking and to the creation of concepts for living life. As human beings ‘consciousness’ is what created our concepts of ‘time’, ‘value’, and ‘money’. All this happened after the creation of the first human being, called Adam (or pick your own first ‘name’ if you like). Adam became ‘conscious’ and then he ‘named’ all that was revealed to his senses. All the plants and animals were given ‘names’ by Adam. Flowers and birds were given ‘names’ by Adam. The objects in the sky were also given ‘names’ by Adam. And in time, all his children were given ‘names’ for identification purposes. Consciousness was what created our initial ideas about reality and Consciousness is what we now need to accept as Fundamental to reality!

Names derive from consciousness. Words derive from consciousness. Thinking derives from consciousness. And these economic concepts called ‘time’, ‘value’, and ‘money’ derive from consciousness. Without consciousness, this world would be mostly meaningless and without any logic or comprehension. Think of your own consciousness. Think of giving a child your selected ‘name’ without any consciousness. It would be impossible. Names derive from ‘consciousness’. This is why most philosophers of reality view ‘consciousness’ as fundamental to all reality. Fundamental means essential and core! Let’s focus on this inner concept for today’s missive!

Today, I read an article in the Minneapolis Star which claimed that our solar system is/was some 240 billion years old. Others (so-called ‘science’ teachers and educators) claim that human beings are some 4.5 billion years old. Does any of this dating make sense? I would suggest that this type of thinking is mostly meaningless and without any logic based on reality. When did a conscious person most likely invent this idea which we call ‘time’? Was ‘time’ invented? Were there conscious human beings some 4.5 billion years prior to today? What is the evidence? I find none which supports this conception (to my satisfaction)! Reality, to me, is derived from my NOW experiences!

Civilization, to me, started only some 6,000 years prior to today. The Sumerians were likely this first civilization on planet earth. This means that ‘consciousness’ must have started near this starting period (give or take). My ‘consciousness’ is a result of being human and being alive. It starts after I have been born. It then evolves from this beginning. The first civilization on this planet appeared to be ‘conscious’ and ‘aware’ of life and objects in and on our planet. Thinking evolved from this starting point as human beings lived life and experienced their survival needs and wants. Eventually, the concept of ‘time’ emerged in the conscious thinking of someone…who noticed that our Sun, stars, and motion created changes in seasons, cycles, etc.

Gradually, this concept called ‘time’ was refined as philosophers (initially Sumerians, Egyptians, and Babylonians) studied the heavens and noticed the motions of our planet with respect to its surroundings. Motion created change in our seasons. This likely created the idea of clock time for a society. Order and regularity then made clock time important for prediction of seasons, cycles, and change. Gradually, we humans developed this concept called days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Time could now be predicted. It all started with ‘consciousness’ and the thinking of philosophers (thinkers) who worked to improve this concept of ‘order’ and regularity. In other words, ‘time’ was invented from prior ‘consciousness’!

The concepts of ‘value’ and ‘money’ are similar concepts of consciousness which were ‘invented’ by conscious human beings (living life on our planet). As people invented ‘private’ property and trade they also invented this concept called ‘value’ and ‘value in exchange’. Then to improve trade, this concept of consciousness called ‘money’ was invented to make exchange easier and more efficient. All these ‘inner’ concepts of the mind (time, value, money) were invented and then promoted as inner concepts of the mind for purposes of logic and progress. Today, we use these concepts of consciousness within our digital/cyber economy to facilitate trade and commerce. It all started with ‘consciousness’ and this ‘inner’ sense of our metaphysical mind.

My belief is that the first human being was created by a Creator only some 6,000 earth/sun revolutions prior to today (give or take a few hundred revolutions). Motion is what I perceive as I and my planet rotate and then revolve around this object called our Sun. Motion is outer and this perception of reality leads to the invention of ‘time’. Time is inner and subjective. Motion is outer and objective. The discovery of the earths rotation and revolution around our Sun (with reference to a star) resulted in these time concepts called ‘day’, ‘month’, and ‘year’. All this resulted from ‘consciousness’ (this inner life force or spirit).

My ‘consciousness’ (this inner life essence) is not a ‘thing’ or a ‘substance’ (like an atom or sub-atomic particle). In reality, my ‘consciousness’ is non-physical, non-material, invisible, metaphysical, and spiritual. It is not some ‘thing’ which can be defined objectively by science or philosophy. I would suggest that your ‘consciousness’ is similar. Give this some reflection. I would suggest that Consciousness is Fundamental to life and human progress. We need to understand this inner essence so we can discern who we are as people. The evidence points to our ‘creation’ by a Higher Intelligence which gave us this ‘consciousness’. Think of consciousness as fundamental to life, thinking, and behavior.

Let’s conclude with the thought that ‘I live, move, and have my Being within a greater Consciousness’. Let’s also assume that ‘You live, move, and have your Being within a greater Consciousness’. This means that we humans have created our realities from this inner realm called our Consciousness. Is it now time to discover this ‘inner’ realm? Is it now time to recognize that we live within TWO realms of reality (the ‘inner’ and the ‘outer’)? Objects in space (like our moon, Sun, and stars) can be viewed as ‘outer’ objects. But concepts of my/your Consciousness (also called our Mind) are derived from our ‘inner’ being or self.

Time, Value, and Money are ‘inner’ concepts which were ‘invented’ by our consciousness. These concepts are all ‘inner’ and subjective. We can retain these ‘inner’ concepts or we can eliminate these concepts. All is subjective when we think about reality as being derived from our ‘inner’ being or self. We can all agree that our Sun and Moon are objects in the sky which are objective and permanent. But all ‘inner’ concepts of our ‘inner’ consciousness (our mind) can be viewed as subjective and subject to retention and/or elimination. Think about this philosophy as you ponder your own reality in the Now Moment. Do we both live as ‘inner’ and ‘outer’ beings? What do you think? What is your perception?  Enjoy! I am:
